Ladies First a Breakthrough

Several months ago we mentioned how the IOC faced testing times in Saudi Arabia failed to meet the Olympic requirement of sending female athletes as well as male to London, the good news is Saudi Arabia has their first two Olympic athletes in attendance.
Sarah Attar who was actually born in the USA will run in the 800m while Wujdan Shahrkhani will compete in the Judo. The two athletes have also been accompanied by a female chaperone.
If you watched the opening ceremony you may have seen them walking a few steps behind the male athletes, but these are massive steps for women in the region and the IOC and Jacques Rogge should be applauded for ensuring that The Saudi Arabians sent female athletes.
Who knows if they do well they made send twice as many next time!
