Hansie Cronje cricket scandal erupts

A Delhi detective stumbled across a taped telephone conversation between South African captain Hansie Cronje and businessman Sanjay Chawla, sparking a controversy tat rocked international cricket. Cronje proved to be the central figure to match-fixing that led to his ban from any form of cricket. His best-known proven misdemeanour was his instigation of a controversial double forfeiture with Nasser Hussain at Centurion Park in 1999-2000, the first in Test history. Cronje died in a plane crash in June 2002.
